There
were about half a dozen kindergartens, or "yochien" that I visited on a
regular basis during my first two years in Japan on the JET Program. Every
Friday morning, I made a three-hour visit to one of the local kindergartens
or elementary schools. I can say without any hesitation that this was the
most rewarding aspect of my job. Never in my life have I felt so welcomed
and appreciated as I did with these children. Because I visited each school
only once every other month or so, it was difficult to learn all the childrens'
names. In the instances when I knew the child's name, I have included it
in the title caption. |
